I became a member of the Montana Watercolor Society in 1990 and it has allowed me to surround myself with amazing art, artists, and incredible watercolor instruction. It took me ten years before I entered my first MTWS National Exhibition, 'Watermedia 2000' and I was elated to have my painting juried in by Jean Grastorf.

Diane Maxey selected my entry in 2002 and I ended up considering her one of my favorite mentors. I attended the workshop she gave in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition and I took another one from her a few years later.

My 3rd painting accepted into 'Watermedia' happened in 2006 and was chosen by Juror Ted Nuttall. This 3rd acceptance was a meaningful goal as it afforded me an invitation to become a Signature Member of the MTWS, a treasured achievement of mine.

It is now my honor to serve on the Board of Directors as the Signature Membership Chair, especially with my personal knowledge of how important this achievement can be for an artist. I look forward to introducing new 'Signature Members' each year and welcoming them with a MTWS Signature Pin, a certificate, and recognition in our publications and website.
